learning to drive a stick was both challenging and exhilarating. My uncle tossed me the key to his 1973 Cherry Red FIAT 128s and just walked off and said "DRIVE". Left me with the keys and the adventure started, now I am looking for new places to fly my CherryRed 09Sky. Go figure can't get the color out of my blood. P.S. Taught my also to fly in the sky.

That was too funny! Y'all looked like you had a blast.
My cousin taught me to drive a stick out in a field. I drove the car onto a rock pile where it sat for many years. Good thing it was an old beater!
I successfully taught my son to drive a stick after he bought a 5 speed for his 1st car (his Dad made him way to nervous). He had 1 week to learn to drive it before moving to the D/FW area to start his grown-up college life. I don't think he'd buy an automatic now. And, he has taught several of his friends how in his car.

When teaching my daughter to drive a stick she kept watching the tach. So being in an empty parking lot I drove and had her close her eyes. I told her to just listen to the engine and how it sounds as the cluth comes out.
I told her the hardest part is letting the clutch out too fast.
So I had her get behine the wheel and close her eyes and to let the clutch out slowly while giving a little gs. We kept at it for jut 10 minutes and she got to the point she coud let the clutch out without giving the gas to get the car moving. It worked get so try it on your student to learn to let the clutch out slowly.

I loved this. I am glad you both had a good time with this. I know when I taught my kids, there was NO laughing going on.

Has this Astra got a CARFAX on it? LOL!
