In the rest of the world, its a huge success.
The rest of the world has nothing to do with Saturn

I most definitely agree with Rob. I had an Ion Quad Coupe for 5 years. I traded it for My Astra XR, on the day of the 5th year.
The ions' production was stopped, and the Astra was brought from the UK, in place of the Ion line of Cars. I have had my experience with the Saturn line of vehicles, Vues, Ions, SL's, etc...
All saturns are amazing cars but the Quality in Manufacturing and structural integrity, interior and exterior, mechanical and subchanical ... Your basically trying to compare night and day with the Astra and the ion.
Price points, sportiness, and overall experience. You'll pay for what you get on these vehicles. You cant "disown it", if you haven't "owned it", my friend.

Bummer! We love our Saturns (Vue and Relay), I think that I just may never buy another new car and keep recycling used Saturns. My new motto: No car over $1000.000! Well unless I hit the lotto.
:-)
I for one saw this coming despite Penske being painted as the saviour of Saturn and I pray that each person who has lost half the value of their car in the past twenty four hours is somehow able to itemize their taxes to recover their losses. Good luck to each of you. I will be itemizing some of my losses($6500) for all three brand new vehicles I bought from Saturn in the past year and I will never again buy a new vehicle until I have it inspected independently. If you knew what this company put me through, you would very much agree. Be very careful and trust no companies-EVER. jason and family.

Rats, Rats, Rats... I was hoping Ole Roger would let me repaint my Aura with Stripes and Checks and Logos and race in NASCAR.

Well, now us in the USA probably understand how the Canadians felt when GM threw them under the bus. Sad.
Every car I've owned for the last 15 years has been a Saturn. Our family has owned a SC2, SL2, SW2, LS2, two Vues, and an Astra. We love our Astra and Green Line Vue; what's going to happen with them, especially the Astra?
I'd love to know what GM could have done or should have done to make this deal work. The stories are pretty conflicting.
This whole situation STINKS!!! I have owned my '07 Vue for 11 months. It is a great vehicle so far. A large part of the misconceptions about Saturn (and other American Vehicles) are from the auto media, being skewed favorably towards Japanese and European vehicles. I hope that some company can see the loyalty that Saturn owners exhibit, and continue to produce these great vehicles. I hope that I could be able to own other new(er) Saturns (preferably Vues) in the future. So many other things that I would like to say.
Sad news. What I hate is that the press is really knocking down Saturn cars as something inferior now when they aren't. My 2008 Aura has virtually nil resale value now despite it being in my humble opinion one of the best Saturns I have owned. It's a crying shame. I guess I'll join 90% of the parking lot with my next car and get an import.

Its Sad GM is going to kill them off, they could make some kind of money of they tried to find someone else. Instead they will kill them off and piss of a ton of people, and make nothing off of them.
Our 94' SL2 has outlasted four other cars we had, with more than half the care. I just bought a 97' SC1 that runs wonderfully. I was planning on next year buying a VUE and Outlook.
GM will NEVER get my business in the future. I will only buy used Saturns from NON GM dealers, and or buy from VW or Honda.
Saturn's founding philosophy was to create a solidly reliable, innovatively and well designed line of vehicles that were economical to own and operate; couple that product line with a costumer service and satisfaction focused dealer and service network; and allow the company to operate independently of the fossilized and moribund corporate sloth GM has become.
Two out of three of the goals were achieved, in spite of the GM's meddling and interference. Saturn created a fantastic line of products and put together team of dedicated employees who propelled the brand to a level of customer satisfaction and brand loyalty that rivals the best the rest of industry has to offer. They accomplished this feat in an incredibly short period of time. This formula was working and should have insured Saturn would continue to increase market share from foreign and domestic competition.
Instead, GM corporate pulled out a pistol; shot itself in the foot; and mucked and meddled with Saturn's success until they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
