Well, it’s official. The last Saturn SKY rolled off the production line on May 20, 2009. The white base SKY with tan top, was shipped to Rockford, Ill. We’ve got some special photos over in our albums.

If you’re a SKY owner, what’s your favorite SKY memory? We’d love to hear your stories.

My favorite memory was and still is riding around with my top down, first with my brother who has a black Sky, then with the friends that we have meant that also have Sky's, we are now 5 and hopefully growing. We go to car cruises on the weekends, and line all our Sky's up. Our cars get more looks then most cars at the cruises.

My favourite memory is the day the dealer drove my 2008 Sky Redline up to me after I finished the purchase. It was so beautiful and I realized that it was now mine and I got to drive it home. The drive home, on a warm spring evening with the top down, was just grand. I quickly discovered the benefits and pleasures of turbo, too ;-)

I'm sad to see the Kappa platform disappear from production so soon.

Well, I just got my 2009 Ruby Red LE RL this March and I love this car! Sad they are not made any more but happy that I was able to get one of these now rare cars. My best memory is still to come, as my wife and will be taking our first convertible weekend next month to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We'll be driving down venerable Highway 1 along the California coast, from Monterey to Santa Barbara. After staying a night, we'll turn inland to Palm Springs for the rest of the weekend. Can't wait!

My favorite memory is how I got my '08 Sky Redline. At the time I was driving a '01 Celica. I had occasionally seen a Sky parked near work. One day I snapped a picture with my cell phone camera and emailed it to my wife. She decided that I should have one and started visiting Saturn dealers. Once she had narrowed down the choices, she took me to the dealers and I settled on a Midnight Blue Redline (which I have since upgraded with the GM Performance Parts Stage 2 turbo upgrade.) The dealer experience was wonderful. I actually got more than 1/3 the original purchase price on an almost 7 year old Celica as a trade-in.

My second most favorite memory concerns the comments that I still get from people almost 2 years later.

"That's a Saturn??"

I respond "Yes, and that's my very clever wife sitting next to me."

I must say as a 2007 SKY owner, my retirement gift to me, I am troubled by the decision to stop making this great car.
To stay competitve in todays market cars like this seem to be what is needed, my own personal opinion is this is really not a good idea and as an owner of two previous Saturns, a 1996 SL2 and now a 2007 Saturn Aura, I think the roadster style should stay, by the way my SL2 had 165,000 miles on it when we traded it in on the Aura, my Aura and Sky do make a great couple in the garage!

Actually, the Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice and the Opel GT were all built at the North Carolina facility, which is now closing. Pontiac is no more. Saturn is now owned by Roger Penske. I'm assuming that with the loss of Wilmington facility, the Opel GT will disappear.( A Sky rebadged). I have a 09 Sky Redline - a great car, even with a few needs -like cockpit storage etc. It is without a doubt, one of the very best styled sportscars from the US. (with GM stylists in the UK, platform and power train from Opel in Germany). I am unabashedly a true car guy - always have been. Owned several Porsches, Jags, Volvo 1800S, Alfa Romeo Guiletta Spyders (2), Triumphs, MG's, 55 Chev convertible, 55 Chev Nomad...Saab GT etc. Nationally licensed SCCA competition driver. (Watkins Glen, Lime Rock, Bryer New Hampshire. Designed and built five versions of my own design sports roadster.
I'm doing all this to say why I think I am qualified to judge the Sky. (would like some track time with it). Oh well, hopefully thhe GM roadster group will keep active and promote more activities for this now collectyable treasure.

I cannot believe Saturn has abandoned this fashion statement. I guess the only saving grace is that it is still available under the Pontiac banner - but what the heck, it ain't a Saturn!
So sad .... it was on my wish list .......... another dream shattered

My favorite memory is the look on my wife's face when I told her "Happy Anniversary" here is your dream car. She couldn't believe I actually bought one. We live in ND, so we are cherishing every minute of being able to drive it before we put in the garage for the winter. It will be a long winter for her not being able to drive it. It became the 3rd Saturn in our garage so, we will still be driving Saturns, just not the Hot Rod. Awesome car is all i have to say about it.
