Hi Steve: My name is Christy Davies, I'm the marketing manager at Saturn of Wichita, but my new nick name is head blogger! We've started a site call www.saturnrevival.com i'm not sure if you'd seen it our heard of it yet. We are a single point Saturn dealership and have been selling Saturns in Wichita since'91. We created the Saturn Revival after the news of the changes with Saturn and it's really startign to take hold here in our community as well as the Saturn Retailer network. We are blogging, twittering ?, facebooking etc.. to try and keep all of our kansas customers and employees empowered with the most up to date information. I thought you'd like to take a look at it. I'd love to hear your feedback and any suggestions on site. Again, it's www.saturnrevival.com or you can follow my blog post at www.saturnrevival.blogspot.com. You can reach me at christyd@saturnofwichita.com or 316-219-5500 at the retail facility. I was thinking that maybe we should encourage all Saturn retailers to take a look at our site and try to implement something locally. I got a call today from Mike Capito from Saturn of Route 433 in ohio (he saw site from a google alert from a news article done on us today in our local paper) who thought maybe a "national" Saturn revival day would be a cool thing to do.. I'd be happy to help any Saturn Retailer who would like to implement these tactics.

GO SATURN!

Steve, I hope that you are doing well weathering the maelstrom around the Great Saturn Brand. I see your comments in press information, and I know that things are tough right now, but Saturn is still making and selling excellent vehicles. I just wanted to wish you well amd let you know that your ol' Ducati-lovin' friend from your Saab Days in Atlanta has one Saturn already (Becky has a 2008 VUE XE FWD) and there could be an ASTRA XR 3-Door for Brian in the very near future (like later today)!

We;ll both keep letting people know how great Saturns are, and I'm sure you will too!

A long time ago, Betsy joined me for my first cruise in the new Vue. I was so stunned by the transmission -- so bewildered by its smoothness -- that I stumbled out of the car after our drive and surprised her with a high-five.

I think we could all use a few more of those these days.

*high five*

Mr. Janisse,

My name is Jason Parks. I am the brother and Publicist for Jamie & Lynn Parks. I have a question for you that I would rather not post on a blog. Do you have an email address that I might be able to use? Please let me know here, on Jamie's blog or email me at lynjameracing@sbcglobal.net. I appreciate your time.

Mr. Janisse, I frequently visit this site for news about the Saturn Astra, because frankly, I have a very hard time finding any news or information about how the Astra is faring anywhere else. The reviews for the car have been amazing. I bolster car fan sites as much as I can with my own opinions whenever I find the chance, but after nearly a year with my Astra I feel like we (owners) have been left out to dry.
I want to cite Bob Lutz' turn of confidence in the car, back in December of 2007 he said that importing the Astra for the US market saved GM $900 million over developing a new ION for Saturn. So I have now been surprised to read that he was quoted in Automotive News that the Astra is "isn't profitable in the U.S. at all anymore" due to the currency exchange rate to the Euro. These kind of statements, that a car with such high quality and a matching price tag, make me feel like I did not make the right purchase.
I see no advertising for the car, and a group of friends who are hatchback enthusiasts had never heard of the car (in the US, they knew the Opel) until I drove it to their latest meet. Seems to me that if the car had truly saved GM nearly a billion dollars, some of that could have been put towards better prepping the car for an American market that clamors for an iPod on wheels with convenient cup holders before they even examine the suspension, quality and reliability.
Just look at whet Ford has done in sales on the new Focus, believe me it makes me sick every day when the Astra still sits below 10,000 for the year.
My question for you Mr. Janisse, and I would just be incredibly grateful if you would, is does GM stand beside this vehicle in a way that will increase sales, maybe at a loss for a company, in order to keep GM car owners from paying BMW prices at the shop?
Let me make one more point, I am still excited about my 3dr Star Silver Astra and I love it more everyday, I read rave reviews from countless publications, but none of those are used on television to convince car buyers that Saturn has turned a corner from cheap bare bones autos, to premium European compacts, sedans and SUVs. Nobody knows that, and if car buyers saw what they expected on Saturn lots, they would be very excited about being part of a community that includes Americans who put quality above gimmicky technology in bargain bin packages.

Thank you for you time Mr. Janisse

Congratulations!

And yes, ZippysMom also took delivery of her new baby last Wednesday. Zippy is a boy, 2814 pounds and 170.5 inches long. Both the baby and mother are doing fine.

Steve, I saw your post on the Astra page. I've been waiting for my Astra for over 12 weeks now. The dealer told me that it is built. I ordered a red, 5 door, XR, manual transmission, with sport suspension. I ordered the car through Saturn of Farmington, MI.
