The Rockies of Colorado, the ultimate track test

I just spent the last week and a half in the Lower Rockies of Western Colorado and finally quashed any bit of buyers remorse I had with the Astra (really only because I didn't get the 18" wheels and premium stereo) when I started driving through Colorado Highway 12 also know as the Highway of Legends.

Really, it's never ending twists and turns through postcard quality landscapes. And going into most turns I started 20 miles an hour over the "Recommended" speeds and came out of them going almost… Continue

Yes, we definately need some change in the Whitehouse and I have already done my patriotic duty and voted for him. The focus isn't put together like this Opel sorry, Saturn Astra. Maybe Ford will bring the untouched version to the States soon. Keep us posted on your travels and may Obama win by a landslide.

Your photos are some of the best I've seen on this site. Also, I really like your bumper sticker on the back glass, I put mine in the same place! Please keep us posted and watch out for smokey out there on the straight aways. Jason and family.

Michael, thanks for sharing your road trip with us. It sound like you had an awesome journey with your Astra. I only wish we had some mountains in Florida to experience what you did. Please keep us posted on your trips. Happy motoring to you and yours. jason and family.

Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for your comments -- and for your help promoting the Astra. Believe me, your enthusiasm is much appreciated! I, too, totally love driving this car. (I lived in Europe for four years and also had one there.)

Make no mistake about it -- we, Saturn, are very proud of this car and are doing what we can to promote it. You're right -- you haven't seen much TV advertising for the Astra. With our limited resources, we have focused our TV spots on Aura and Vue. However, we have done quite a bit of online marketing of the Astra -- including enthusiasts sites like Edmunds.com, etc. and social networks like Facebook (we have an Astra fan page). In addition, our Kiss my Astra photo contest generated quite a bit of buzz... and last season's Project Runway give-away also was pretty big. (Believe me, I, too, would love if we could do even more for this great, small car. However, that's the down side of having five all-new products in a 24-month window!)

And please don't mis-understand Mr. Lutz' comments about Astra. His influence was key to Saturn getting this product and he remains a loyal fan. However, his most recent comments were addressing the business question regarding the drastic change in the dollar-to-Euro relationship. We're not the only one facing this problem, VW, BMW and the rest are also wrestling with it.

Again, many thanks for helping us get the word out. It's great for us to have such loyal customers. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions or concerns.

Thanks!

Hi Michael, I agree the response and performance is awesome for such a small engine and the agressive steering is just pure fun.I drive one for my demo and love the ride and fuel mileage it provides as well.I'd be honored if youl'd join my circle of friends.
