All well and good; however you're still in D.C. Hope you manage to engineer an escape soon!

About Me:
I'm a reporter at CBS-affiliate WUSA 9 in Washington, DC. I'm what you call a "Digital Correspondent," which means I shoot, report, and edit my stories. It also means I primarily work from my car. I use my arm rest as a mouse pad. I use my passenger seat as an editing station. And I plug my computer audio into the auxiliary jack so I have surround sound while I edit.

Since beginning my job in January, I had to quickly learn how to parallel park on both sides of the street. I also learned parking garages have concrete barriers that don't allow much room for my car, so I've scraped the both sides of my front bumper. It doesn't look too bad, and I'm afraid it will happen again so I'm holding off on repairs.

I'm a very active person with plans to run five races this year. It started with the Cherry Blossom 10-miler, and it will end with a marathon in Las Vegas. I'm looking forward to the end of the year when I can finally put a 26.2 sticker in my back window.

My Aura in DC

I moved to DC a year ago, and began my job at WUSA in January. I'm a reporter (one-man-band) and drive my personal vehicle for work. Other people (especially at my own station) feel bad for me for having to drive my own car. I don't. I love it. Here's why:

- My Aura is easy to drive. Often, news organizations purchase huge SUVs. My car fits my size.

- I got to pick the features. I didn't want a sun roof. Sounds weird, but I just didn't. I did want a remote start, so I got it. I do have automat… Continue

My car rocks the highway

I had to drive through a really bad storm Friday. My Aura was being blown all over the road. But I didn't feel a thing. I was able to maintain control, even while passing semi trucks. I thought about my long lost love... my light blue Ion. I miss my Ion, but during that storm, I was glad to have my Aura. It held up. I knew that if I was in my Ion, I would have had to pull over. Instead, I made it to town on time and didn't miss a beat. I'm very glad I got the Aura. Although, I still wish I had a… Continue

I keep spilling drinks in my car!

I bought one of those "leak free" water bottles thinking I could simply leave it in the passenger seat and not worry. I was wrong. I've so far spilled water and iced tea all over my seat. Luckily, my car is still pretty new and none of it absorbed. I love that Saturn washes the car when I go into the dealership. I wish they could also vaccuum the seats!

Hi Lindsey!

As a former TV reporter I would say congrats on the job at WUSA! Not the best of all worlds to one man band (did it myself at a few places) but it is DC! I have an Aura XE and absolutely love it. I was one of the first people to buy it when it first rolled off the line (got mine in October 2006). Still rides like it did the very first day. My only rule is I try to avoid driving it for work (which keeps it running young). Right now I have only 30,750 miles after nearly 36 months. Continue to enjoy the job and the car and feel free to drop me a line anytime if you'd like to talk TV and the business!

Hi Lindsey, Sorry you have to work in DC. Dont drink the water is has proven to destroy brain cells. Just look around at the Gov. So why do you keep spilling drinks? IT does has great power. I have a XR loaded. But I have a BMW too and love it more. Can not beat the Germans building a car. Took me a while to try one out and hooked. Take me advise and dont drive one.

Thanks for joining my group (The wish list) and welcome to IMSaturn. I've been a longtime fan myself. My first was a '94 SL and now I am driving an '06 Vue. Maybe an Outlook next? who knows!
