New Old Stocker
Okay, even though I just bought a '99 SW1 5-speed with 155K from my big brother to replace a cherry, bought-from-new 4Runner for fuel mileage reasons, I am having a blast carving through the esses in this thing. It's such a sleeper! It's so light on its feet, and can leave almost anything else sucking wind at pure cornering. I find the SOHC a bit low on torque at freeway speeds, but beautifully geared for scoot in town with no A/C on. I'd love to have the DOHC, but I'm still happy enough not to care. However, I do find the gearbox is like running a two-by-four through cold oatmeal, and I'd love to find someone who makes a decent linkage for it. So far, my search has been for naught. It's such an unlikely candidate that all I get is blanks. Hey, Panasport makes wheels for it, why no shifters? Any recommendations? Surely this has come up before...
