Sorry, but every Astra we sell 2008 models in BC, Canada has a rebate of $6500 for the XR and $6000 for the XE. It's also not a dealer matched offer, it is from Saturn. Don't believe me, go to www.saturncanada.com click on offers and then click on BC for the province and an add will pop up that tells you just that. I'm glad that everyone seems to love their Astra as they are truely amazing cars and alot of fun to drive. We still have about 15 2008 Astra's in Langley, BC and like I said they have a discount of $6000 for the XE model and $6500 for the XR model. The credits are in leu of financing, but are banks out here have great rates available.

I am amazed at the information being passed on by the uninformed, and ignorant. I went and investigated this incredible rebate, and I found out this: 1, This offer is on 2008 Astra's ONLY!!, 2, the rebate is $2,250 for QUALIFIED BUYERS. and what's available instock. 3, IF! you make a $2,000 down payment, the Dealer "MAY" match that. 4. THIS OFFER IS UNTIL 03/17/08. So please, don't be passing on b/s information to make yourself feel like you are a consumer expert. Get real information and don't inflate it to boost your little ego.

$6500 rebate on the XR and $6000 on the XE for 2008 models $4500 and $3500 on the 2009's and if you own a Saturn now and have for the last 6 months, you get an extra $1000 in Canada anyways.

Mooney

Where did you hear $6,000 on rebates? Someone fed you a line of b***. Max Saturn is offering is $2,250 cash back or 0% financing.

Even with the issues facing Saturn and GM, I still made the plunge and bought an Astra. Love the car and don't regret the decision at all. I just hope Saturn makes it through all this in one piece with great products, customer service and everything I'm come to enjoy being a loyal, long term owner.

I have a 2008 Astra XR 3dr/18" wheels, totally pimped right of the lot. Look to find more in the upcoming issue of Saturn 360 due out this Spring. I love my Asta! He's the man!

With regard to Mooney's comments - I can understand your frustration, but you leased your car 14 months ago. Think about all that's happened in the last 14 months - gas prices went crazy and then crashed back down (though they went up 24 cents/gallon in the STL metro from 2/25 to 2/26!), the economy went kaboom, the banks almost completely stopped lending money, car sales for nearly EVERY BRAND tanked (with the exception of Subaru and Mini, nobody had a sales increase) - need I go on?? You should be thankful that you have a leased vehicle if you are "completely not happy" with your Astra. Be glad that you did not purchase it. Other than having buyer's remorse about depreciation, why else are you "completely not happy" with your Astra? Does it failing to drive properly? Did something break on it? Do you just think it's ugly or something?

Here's my friendly advice: think back to when you leased the car in the first place. What did you like about the car? Do you still like those things about it? If you do, then stop waiting for the "Waaahm-bulance" to pick you up because you are upset about a preciptous drop in residual value and enjoy your car! With very few exceptions, almost every car drops in value over time - some more than others, and always the most in the first year of ownership. You have one of the coolest cars on the market, and if you like driving it, keep driving it, turn it in at the end of the lease and walk away. I did NOT lease mine, and I'm going to have to deal with serious negative equity if I sell mine before it's paid off, but that's the way it is, and I just have to suck it up. I love driving mine so much (over 3500 miles in the three weeks I've owned it) that I want to keep it forever. Maybe THEN it'll regain some value!?

No hard feelings, Mooney - we're all in the Astra ship together. If I ticked you off, I'll just have to suck that up, too. If it makes you reconsider wanting to leave it parked somewhere with the keys in it, then "my work here is done"!

Astra what a great car..yes there are changes going on with saturn, but that should not keep someone from buying an astra.
I have a black sapphire Astra XR 5 dr. It runs great, looks great, get lots of compliments on the car. Someone even thought I paid 25K for It. It's a great bang for the buck. Thanks to Coles reply and
excellent photo's I plan on getting the thule roof rack for my kayak and bike. Not to mention the 28 mpg around town and under $20 a week in gas. So go out and get an Astra if you don't have one!

I KNOW I made a mistake. For a lot of reasons, I am completely not happy with my Astra - I leased it 14 months ago and was just informed that the car I leased, then valued at $22,000 is now worth, accoring to the Kelley Black Book, $12,000. I was also informed that they are now selling these cars with a $6,000 rebate, meaning that the car I leased based on a $22K sales tag last year is today selling for $16K. I guess I don't really have a question, but if anyone has any suggestions for getting out of a lease or recouping some of this money that I feel Saturn has taken out of my pocket, I'd love to hear them.
